Wingsuit Foil Record Flight In Switzerland

Together with Andreas Podlipnik, Red Bull, and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, Peter developed the Wingsuit Foil — enabling record flights from Jungfrau and redefining human flight.

It was never about the jump. It was about what came after. For three years, Peter Salzmann chased what most considered impossible: flying farther and longer than any human before him. The vision was clear — to stop descending and truly soar. Designer Andreas Podlipnik joined the project first. Later, Red Bull Advanced Technologies brought Formula 1 aerodynamics into the equation. Together, they pushed through six prototypes, countless wind tunnel sessions in Stockholm, and years of relentless refinement — never settling, never stopping.

What emerged on October 24, 2024, was something nobody had ever seen before: a wingsuit capable of nearly six minutes of flight across 12.5 kilometers from the summit of Jungfrau, Switzerland. Three world records fell. A new chapter of human flight began.

Phase 1

The Childhood Dream

Long before the records, there was a simple dream: to fly like a bird and stay in the air longer than ever thought possible. What began in the Austrian mountains as imagination slowly turned into a lifelong mission.

Phase 2

The Mindset

Progress only happens when you are willing to challenge accepted limits. The project demanded patience, resilience, and the belief that impossible is often just unexplored territory.

Phase 3

Development

Over three years, the Wingsuit Foil evolved through constant testing, redesigns, and six different prototypes. Every version brought new lessons, pushing performance, efficiency, and control further than before.

Phase 4

The Team

Innovation at this level is never a solo effort. Together with designer Andreas Podlipnik, Red Bull, and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, Peter combined human flight experience with cutting-edge aerodynamic engineering.

Phase 5

Preparation and Research

Countless hours in wind tunnels, weather analysis, flight simulations, and mountain testing shaped every decision. The goal was not only performance, but creating a system precise enough to safely redefine what human flight could become.

Phase 6

The Record Flight

On October 24, 2024, Peter launched from Jungfrau, Switzerland, and flew farther and longer than ever before. Nearly six minutes in the air across 12.5 kilometers resulted in three world records and a milestone in aviation history.

Phase 7

The Future

The record flight was never meant to be the finish line. It marked the beginning of a new era — exploring how humans can move through the sky with greater efficiency, freedom, and possibility than ever before.

What began as a vision to extend human flight became years of relentless focus, innovation, and refinement. Every prototype, every setback, and every test flight pushed the project closer to reality.

In the end, the Wingsuit Foil proved that with the right mindset, the boundary between imagination and achievement becomes smaller than anyone expects.
